Vince Gill maps next leg of 'Back 2 Basics' tour

Country singer Vince Gill continues to back his latest album, "Next Best Thing," with another round of tour dates that stretch into October.

Released in mid February, Gill's "Next Best Thing" made its debut at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album got some early publicity when Gill debuted its title track while hosting last November's CMA Awards; he has hosted the ceremony 11 times.

"Next Best Thing" marks Gill's first self-produced album. The set features guest vocals from Emmylou Harris, LeAnn Womack, Bekka Bramlett, Dawn Sears, Michael McDonald and Leslie Satcher.

Gill's wife, singer Amy Grant, also makes a guest appearance on the album. Gill said her involvement was a valuable asset during the recording process.

"She's a real supporter," he said in a statement. "Just having her tell me she’s proud of me and that a song is great. Just having someone to bounce ideas off was important. Without [former producer] Tony [Brown], I needed that input."

A native of Norman, Okla., Gill has won 14 GRAMMY® Awards, which ties him with the late Chet Atkins for the most by a country artist. Gill has also won 18 CMA Awards, more than any other artist in history.
