Yo La Tengo plots June club dates for the U.S., Canada
With a new album in stores and a spring tour in the books, indie-rock mainstays Yo La Tengo are lining up additional North American dates for this summer.
Club dates are so far confirmed throughout June, and will be book-ended by two European treks.
Titled "Summer Sun," the new CD surfaced on April 8. Its first single, "Don't Have to Be So Sad," is available as a free MP3 download from Matador Records' Yo La Tengo website, as is the album track "Little Eyes."
"Summer Sun" comes in the wake of last year's "The Sounds of the Sounds of Science," an instrumental collection that the group laid down as the score to French filmmaker Jean Painleve's documentaries of underwater life.
Last December, "Merry Christmas from Yo La Tengo"--a collection that the group's official website describes as the "quintessential jazz Christmas album"--hit stores.
The Hoboken, N.J., group's previous non-holiday, non-movie-score release is 2000's critical favorite "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out."
