50 Cent and Jay-Z to headline Rock the Mic tour
Hip-hop fans can look forward to a massive summer tour featuring co-headliners 50 Cent and Jay-Z , as well as Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul and Fabolous.
Dubbed the Rock the Mic tour, the outing kicks off in late June and is set to make stops in more than 30 cities. Organizers plan to use the outing as the "blueprint for the first true annual hip-hop festival," according to a press release.
In addition to musical performances, the event will also feature "additional elements showcasing the hop-hop lifestyle."
50 Cent's stint on the Rock the Mic tour follows his current headlining outing, which is due to wrap up in late May. The run supports his quadruple-platinum debut, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," which surfaced in February and spawned the hit "In Da Club"; the track has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the past nine weeks.
Jay-Z's most-recent release is last year's "The Blueprint 2," the sequel to his highly successful 2001 release "The Blueprint." In addition to his multi-platinum recording career, the rapper also stays busy heading multiple businesses, including his Def Jam imprint, Roc-A-Fella Records; his Roc-A-Wear clothing line; and Armdale Vodka.
Roc-A-Fella artists Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and Freeway will join Jay-Z during the Rock the Mic tour; 50 Cent will bring along his G-Unit crew.
