Limp Bizkit album pushed back to September

The fate of Limp Bizkit 's new album--which was expected to surface before the July 4 kick-off the group's upcoming tour--continues to fluctuate.

The latest word, according to frontman Fred Durst, is that the group will release a new single prior to heading out on Metallica 's Summer Sanitarium Tour, but the new album won't surface until later this year. Durst also said that the album's title--which he has referred to at various stages of development as "Bipolar," "Less Is More" and "Fetus More"--has changed yet again.

"We will have a single out before the Summer Sanitarium Tour and our new album 'Panty Sniffer' will drop, FOR SURE, the first week in September!" he said in a message posted on the band's website. "Sometimes you just have to go with the flow of creativity and we're doing just f---ing that!"

Last month, Durst announced that the group had scrapped an already-finished album in order to start over with new guitarist Mike Smith, whom the band enlisted after recording the now-shelved set. Durst said that the group's "dope" chemistry with Smith--formerly of the band Snot--prompted the decision.

"I'm very proud to say that our new guitarist Mike is one bad ass motherf---er," Durst said in his most-recent message. "He's giving me riffs I've always wanted to have."

Smith replaced original Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, who left the group in 2001.

On Tuesday night (5/6), Limp Bizkit appeared on "mtvICON: Metallica," during which the group performed its version of the 1986 Metallica cut "Sanitarium."
