Aerosmith unveils special ticket packages for KISS outing
Aerosmith fans willing to shell out some big bucks have a shot at primo seats and backstage access for the band's upcoming co-headlining tour with KISS .
The Boston-based rockers are offering members of their fan club--Aero Force One--a choice of three premium ticketing packages, the most extravagant of which costs $595. That price will get the buyer early entry into the venue, backstage access to a pre-show VIP party where one can "experience first-hand the pre-show mayhem that typically only crew and artists experience," and a "guaranteed seat in the first five rows," according to a band announcement. The packages also "often include chances to meet the band and crew."
KISS is offering its fans deluxe ticketing packages as well, prices for which max out at $1,000 and include a backstage photo with the group in full makeup.
Aerosmith and KISS kick off their co-headlining run in early August, and will make stops in more than 30 cities. The tour itinerary appears below.
Aerosmith's most recent studio release is 2001's "Just Push Play." The group is currently at work on a blues album. Bassist Tom Hamilton talked about the upcoming tour and the work-in-progress album in a recent message posted at the group's website.
"We've been learning old blues songs," he said. "Some of the recordings we're schoolin' on are from the thirties and forties so it's hard to hear everything in a lot of detail but there's enough for us to eat up and try to spit back. At any rate we're putting our spin on them and making them ready to be on an Aerosmith record. We've also been working on originals and we have a few of them cookin' pretty good."
As for his group's upcoming outing with KISS, Hamilton said that it's "[f]unny how things work out. We used to play with them in the seventies but both bands made it pretty big and we went our separate ways. Those guys have always been in a world of their own so it never occurred to us--until recently--that we would be a good match to tour together. The more we thought about it the more we realized it would be a blast to try it out."
Hamilton went on to say that he and bandmates Steven Tyler and Joe Perry hit it off with KISS anchormen Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley during a recent national radio broadcast to announce the tour.
"It was great talking [to Gene and Paul] about all this stuff because there aren't that many other bands that we can relate to about that time period. It was like meeting somebody that you shared an experience with and getting to compare notes for the first time."
