The White Stripes string together summer shows
Dates have begun to surface for the White Stripes' summer U.S. tour in support of their recently released album, "Elephant."
Only one June stop and a limited number of July stops were confirmed at press time, beginning with a June 13 set at California radio station Live 105's BFD 2003 festival. The group shares space on the main-stage roster with Foo Fighters, A.F.I., Deftones and Evanescence.
The White Stripes ' itinerary also includes a July 23 performance in New York City's Central Park.
Minimalist rockers Jack and Meg White released "Elephant" on April 1. The album features the first single, "Seven Nation Army," which is riding in the Top 5 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Shortly after "Elephant" hit stores, the White Stripes set out on a two-week club tour that included an April 20 concert at Boston's Orpheum Theatre. The group's website features an audio stream of that performance.
"Elephant" is the follow-up to the duo's critically acclaimed 2001 set, "White Blood Cells," which features the hits "Fell in Love With a Girl" and "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground."
Originally released on indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry, "White Blood Cells" was re-released last year on BMG imprint V2.
