Boz Scaggs' Son Dies From Drug Overdose

Oscar Scaggs, the 21-year-old son of blues guitar legend Boz Scaggs , died New Year's Eve, according to a statement from Scaggs' publicist. The younger Scaggs reportedly succumbed to a drug overdose in San Francisco, where his father has business interests in both the Blue Light restaurant and Slim's nightclub.

Details surrounding the death were not available at press time. A statement from HK Management said that memorial services would be private.

Boz Scaggs cancelled a Saturday night performance at Slim's, though his band was still set to perform, according to a recorded message at the venue.

Scaggs continues to perform blues shows, and in 1997 issued both a new album on Virgin Records and a 2-CD retrospective on Sony.
