Briefly: Dixie Chicks, Scott Weiland, 'Uncle Junior,' Hookah Brown, Boyd Tinsley

The Dixie Chicks postponed their planned June 1 appearance at Cleveland's Gund Arena, reportedly because lead singer Natalie Maines came down with a sore throat. The show has been rescheduled for June 11, and tickets for the June 1 performance will be valid on the new date.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the postponement was announced only 15 minutes before the sold-out show's scheduled 7:30 p.m. start time.

Hookah Brown, a group that formed last year and featured Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson, has called it quits.

"Due to some personal and business issues that we were unable to overcome, Hookah Brown is no more," Robinson said in a statement posted at the Hookah Brown website. "I thought we were becoming a really good band, but sometimes life gets in the way of people being able to make music together.

Among the guests who contributed to the release were guitarists Doyle Bramhall II and Chris Bruce; drummer J.J. Johnson; singers Lisa Germano and Toshi Reagon; keyboardists Patrick Warren and Dave Palmer; and bassist David Piltch.
