Briefly: Linkin Park, All Tomorrow's Parties, Slipknot, the Doors, Patty Loveless
Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington has been hospitalized in the Los Angeles area since Friday afternoon (5/30), when he suffered an attack of severe back and abdominal pains, according to Warner Bros. Records.
"All touring and video shoot plans in Europe have been put on hold this month as we make sure Chester fully recovers," a spokesperson for the band said in a statement. "We wish him the best, and will keep everyone posted as to his condition."
The group has canceled or postponed all of its European tour dates through June 23.
The three-day All Tomorrow's Parties Los Angeles festival has been pushed back from June 20-22 to Sept. 26-28 "due to slow ticket sales plus other logistical problems," organizers said in a statement. The festival, which "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening is overseeing, had booked more than 30 acts, including Patti Smith, Nick Cave, the Breeders and Yo La Tengo.
More details are available at the event's website.
Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was arrested on drug charges after a Sunday afternoon (6/1) car crash in Des Moines, Iowa, the Des Moines Register reported.
Police reportedly found small amounts of marijuana, a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine and two syringes in Gray's car. There were no injuries in the accident, which involved one other vehicle.
Drummer Stewart Copeland has settled the $1 million breach-of-contract suit he filed against his ex-bandmates in the Doors 21st Century, Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger. A statement issued by the band did not disclose the settlement's terms, but did say that all parties are open to collaborating again in the future.
Copeland was replaced as the Doors 21st Century's drummer after he injured his arm last year.
Manzarek and Krieger still face legal disputes with ex-Doors drummer John Densmore, as well as the parents of deceased Doors frontman Jim Morrison.
Country singer Patty Loveless is scheduled to release her ninth Epic Records album, "On Your Way Home," on Sept. 30. According to the label, the acoustic-leaning album features songs written by Rodney Crowell, Matraca Berg, Marty Stuart and Buddy Miller, among others.
