Jo Dee Messina tours behind No. 1 country album

Jo Dee Messina , whose just-released best-of album recently debuted at No. 1 on the country charts, spends her summer/fall concert season at a wide variety of venues.

Messina's schedule, which currently runs into October, includes a mix of country-music festival, fair and headlining dates throughout North America.

Besides being top dog on the country charts, Messina's "Greatest Hits," which surfaced on May 25, entered SoundScan's pop music chart at No. 14. The album includes eight singles that topped the country charts, among them "I'm Alright," "Bye Bye," "Stand Beside Me," "Burn" and "Bring on the Rain."

"Greatest Hits"--which marks Messina's second consecutive No. 1 debut--also features three previously unreleased tracks. The album's first single is titled "Was That My Life."

This week, the Boston native's schedule includes three separate fund-raisers in three different cities. On Wednesday (6/4), she tapes a special in Washington, D.C., for Home and Garden Television that kicks off a fundraising drive for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The special airs on HGTV on July 4.

On June 5, Messina appears at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon for a party and auction to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and on June 7 she will perform at a Las Vegas benefit for the Lili Claire Foundation and the UNLV Life Skills Center.

"I think the best part of my career is being able to help others," Messina said in a statement. "While it will be a week of planes, trains and automobiles, the fact that it's all for such great causes makes it so worthwhile."
