Stray Cats, Social Distortion to headline Hootenanny fest
The Stray Cats will reunite for a headlining performance on day one of this year's 9th annual Hootenanny festival, which has now grown into a two-day event.
Seminal rockers Social Distortion hold down the top slot on the second day of the July 5-6 festival, which "celebrates American music and car culture," according a press release.
General-admission tickets cost $45 for one day or $80 for two days. There are also a limited number of VIP passes on sale for $100 per day or $180 for both days. VIP pass-holders will have access to the backstage area "with all the other true VIPs/artist guests/ any celebs," according to the event's website, which also points out that the VIP pass "doesn't get you in the bands' dressing room or catering area for the obvious reasons."
The Stray Cats ' performance will be the rockabilly group's first show since 1992, and marks the band's 25th anniversary.
Social D is returning for its fourth Hootenanny headlining appearance, and the group expects to continue participating in future editions, according to frontman Mike Ness.
"It’s our scene, and we helped create it," he said in a statement. " We’ll keep coming back as long as we keep having fun."
The Stray Cats top off a July 5 roster that also includes Cadillac Tramps, Blasters, John Doe, Original Sinners, James Intveld, Hot Rod Lincoln, Russell Scott, Moonlight Cruisers, Los Creepers, Devil Doll, Gypsy Trash, Crank Williams.
Social D takes the stage on July 6 following performances from Little Richard, Junior Brown, Rocket from the Crypt, Lee Rocker, Dave Vanian and His Phantom Chords, Dave Alvin, Nekromantix, Manic Hispanic, Tex & the Horseheads, Kingbees, Paladins, Jesse Dayton, Blazing Haley, Deke Dickerson, Mike Martt, Hellbound Hayride.
More information is available at the event's website.
