The Wallflowers go unplugged this summer

Jakob Dylan and the Wallflowers tone things down in July, when the group takes an acoustic swing through the West.

The band has lined up about two weeks of dates that kick off in mid-July, all of which are set in the western U.S. and Canada. The group's website features detailed information about ticket pre-sales--some of which are already underway--as well as general on-sale dates, which begin this week.

Prior to kicking off the acoustic run, the Wallflowers will give early-July festival performances in Chicago and Sioux City, Iowa.

The Wallflowers continue to support last year's "Red Letter Days," which surfaced last November and debuted at No. 32 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Last month, the Wallflowers headed into the studio to record their version of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." The song will turn up on the soundtrack to the film "American Wedding." The flick, which is the sequel to "American Pie 2," is due out on Aug. 1.

Frontman Dylan recently scored a 2003 ASCAP Film & Television Music Award for writing "Empire in My Mind," the theme song for the CBS-TV series "The Guardian."
