Linkin Park vocalist says he'll be ready for Summer Sanitarium
Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington said in a statement issued on Wednesday (6/11) that he is recovering from the mysterious illness that forced his band to cancel a planned tour of Europe earlier this month.
Bennington was hospitalized in the Los Angeles area after severe back pains and abdominal spasms caused him to collapse.
"I finally got out of the hospital over the weekend after nine days, and the doctor told me I need to rest for the next two to three weeks," Bennington said. "Right now it seems like it was some bacteria or virus that spread throughout my intestines and body, putting me in intense pain. It also would not let me eat for a week."
Bennington plans to be back in action in time for Linkin Park 's scheduled June 27 show in Las Vegas, which is a warm-up for the Summer Sanitarium Tour.
He added, "I also wanted to say I truly appreciate the tens of thousands of get-well emails I got from fans. Our fans really are the best in the world."
The Summer Sanitarium tour will tour large North American venues in July and August. The bill also features Metallica , Limp Bizkit , Deftones and Mudvayne .
Linkin Park issued a new album titled "Meteora" on March 25.
