The Recording Industry Association of America announced that it has sent cease-and-desist letters to five people it suspects are illegally offering huge amounts of copyrighted music for download.

The RIAA's letters demand that the five people immediately stop the sharing of their music via the Internet. Four of the suspected file-sharers are subscribers to Verizon Internet Services--which was recently ordered by a court to reveal the names of the suspects to the RIAA--and the fifth subscribes to Earthlink.
