Dashboard Confessional sets headlining dates behind forthcoming studio set

Dashboard Confessional issues a new album titled "A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar" on Aug. 12, and will back it with a headlining tour.

Gil Norton (Pixies, Belly, Foo Fighters) produced the forthcoming 13-song set, which was penned by Dashboard Confessional frontman and emo-scene darling Chris Carrabba. Including the upcoming album, Carrabba--previously of Further Seems Forever and The Vacant Andys--has issued three full-length Dashboard Confessional studio albums.

Carrabba played a solo-acoustic Dashboard Confessional set for an hour-long 2002 edition of MTV2's "Unplugged." A CD--which also included a bonus DVD of the performance--was issued last year.

Carrabba's debut Dashboard Confessional album, 2000's "The Swiss Army Romance," was reissued by Vagrant Records on April 22.

Dashboard Confessional recently dropped off of its support slot on Beck's North American tour after some of that tour's venues were downsized.

"We don't like to cancel shows, and rarely do," the band said in a statement issued at the time. "We apologize profusely to those of you who bought tickets to see us. We strongly recommend that you do yourself a favor and take in the rest of their tour dates and experience the creative brilliance that is Beck. We have had a great time on this tour; we were treated so well by Beck and his crew that we will be forever grateful."

Dashboard Confessional's headlining tour gets underway in late August, and nearly a month of shows are scheduled so far. MXPX supports.
