Evanescence assembles summer tour plans
Evanescence takes its Goth-rock show on the road this summer for a series of dates that includes festival performances and a headlining slot on the Nintendo Fusion Tour.
Following several headlining and festival dates that stretch from late June into mid July, the Arkansas-based quartet takes a short break before kicking off the Nintendo Fusion Tour on Aug. 4. The outing, which is billed as "a groundbreaking fusion of music, video gaming and culture," will also feature Cold, Revis, Cauterize and Finger Eleven.
The Nintendo Fusion Tour is due to stop in 25 cities, according to the event's official website. Organizers had only revealed a portion of the itinerary at press time.
Each Nintendo Fusion stop "will feature a unique gaming experience with a host of Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance games, ranging from first-person adventures to retro favorites," according to a press release.
Evanescence released its inaugural effort, "Fallen," in early March. The set debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart, peaked at No. 3, and was recently certified double platinum for shipping two million copies in the U.S.
"Fallen" got an early boost from the hit single "Bring Me to Life," which first turned up on the "Daredevil" soundtrack. The cut features guest vocals from 12 Stones singer Paul McCoy, whose group shares its label--Wind-Up Records--with Evanescence.
On Tuesday (7/1), Evanescence plans to post at its website the music video for its second single, "Going Under." The site currently features still photos taken during the video shoot.
Twenty-year-old singer Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody formed Evanescence in the late '90s. Guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray round out the group.
