Damien Rice lines up North American outing to back debut album

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice ventures across the pond in September for a tour of North American clubs and theaters.

Rice is supporting his critically acclaimed debut, "O," which surfaced in the U.S. on June 10. The album hit shelves in Rice's native Ireland in February of 2002.

In the coming weeks, "O"--which has already been released in the U.K. and Sweden--will also be issued in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and France, according to Rice's website.

In addition to widespread critical raves, "O" received three nominations in the Meteor Ireland Music Awards, and was recognized in the Hot Press Reader’s Poll for the Best Album, as well as placing top five for Best Male Singer, Best Live Act, Best Songwriter and Best Single.

On July 22, Rice is scheduled to perform on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." Last month, he appeared on CBS-TV's "The Late Show with David Letterman," during which he performed the "O" cuts "Volcano" and "Cannonball."

A full-length MP3 version of the "Volcano" radio edit is posted at Rice's website, as are a number of streaming live cuts and MP3 samples of additional "O" tracks.
