Trapt heads up Jim Beam Tour with Smile Empty Soul, 3 Days Grace

July 9, 2003 12:49 PM
Rockers Trapt stay busy this summer with a mix of festival dates and headlining shows, including a run atop the Jim Beam Tour bill, which also features Smile Empty Soul and 3 Days Grace.

The Jim Beam Tour kicks off on July 22, and Trapt has lined up a number of headlining stops and festival dates that take place before, during and after the run.

The group's festival appearances include a set at the July 26 Rolling Rock Town Fair in Pittsburgh, where they'll share the stage with Blink 182, Puddle of Mudd, Sum 41, Saliva and 311.

Trapt is also scheduled to finish up the month of August by opening four shows for 3 Doors Down.

Los Gatos, CA-based Trapt released its self-titled debut last November. The album, which includes the single "Headstrong," has moved more than 500,000 copies to date, according to the band's website.

The group's site features free MP3s of "Headstrong" and "Still Frame," as well as streaming versions of the "Headstrong" music video, a behind-the-scenes look at the video shoot, and the band's live rendition of the track.

Wired fans who prefer MP3s to CDs can download from the Trapt's website an MP3-formatted version of the group's debut album for $7.99. The deal includes delivery of the album artwork and an autographed poster, according to the site.

Trapt formed in 1995, and cites Korn, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, 311 and Metallica as its influences. The group recorded its 12-song debut in Vancouver, British Columbia, with producer Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine).

Alt-metal trio Smile Empty Soul released its self-titled debut album in late May.

3 Days Grace's self-titled debut hits U.S. stores on July 22, and surfaces in the group's native Canada on July 30.
