Yo La Tengo returns to the tour trail for second leg of U.S. outing

Yo La Tengo , which is finishing up a European tour and then taking a short break from the road, will get back on the horse in September for more stateside dates.

The group, which took a swing through the western U.S. in June, has mapped out a month-long batch of eastern-U.S. club and theater shows that are scheduled to kick off on Sept. 10.

Yo La Tengo is backing its latest album, "Summer Sun," which arrived in stores in April. Two cuts from the album--"Don't Have to Be So Sad" and "Little Eyes"--are available as free MP3-downloads from Matador Records' Yo La Tengo website.

"Summer Sun" comes in the wake of last year's "The Sounds of the Sounds of Science," an instrumental collection that the group laid down as the score to French filmmaker Jean Painleve's documentaries of underwater life.

The prolific trio also released last December a set titled "Merry Christmas from Yo La Tengo," a collection of songs that the group's official website describes as the "quintessential jazz Christmas album."

The Hoboken, NJ-based act's previous non-holiday, non-movie-score release is 2000's critical favorite "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out."
