With a new chart-topping best-of set now in stores, country singer Trace Adkins [ tickets ] continues to make his way through a tour itinearary that will take him to dozens of additional cities by the end of October.

Adkins' summer-fall schedule is dominated by appearances at fairs and festivals, and also includes several headlining dates at clubs.

"Greatest Hits Collection, Volume 1"--the just-released album from the Sarepta, LA-raised artist--sold about 56,000 copies during its first week in stores, and will enter Billboard's Top Country Albums chart at No. 1 next week. The album is Adkins' first to reach No. 1 on the country chart, and will debut at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 album chart, which covers all genres.

Among the 14 cuts on "Greatest Hits" are two new tracks: "Then They Do," a ballad detailing parents' emotions as they watch their children grow up; and "Welcome To Hell," on which Adkins portrays the devil.

The album's other tracks--which include "There's a Girl in Texas," "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing," "The Rest of Mine," "I'm Tryin'" and "Chrome"--are culled from Adkins' four previous albums, dating back to his platinum-selling 1996 debut, "Dreamin' Out Loud."

Adkins will be formally inducted as the Grand Ole Opry's newest member on Aug. 23. The induction will take place during CMT's nationally televised broadcast of "Opry Live."
