Nelly, R. Kelly among performers at Detroit Music Festival

This year's Detroit Music Festival--dubbed "Throwin' Down in Motown"--features a high-powered roster of new and old R&B and hip-hop acts, including R. Kelly , Nelly , The Gap Band , Nas and India.Arie .

The two-day event takes place at Detroit's Comerica Park on Aug. 1 and 2. Tickets are on sale now, and prices range from $43.50 to $103.50, according to a press release.

R. Kelly tops an opening-night lineup that also includes The Gap Band, The Isley Brothers, Nas and Jaguar Wright. Nelly heads up the second night, which will also features performances from The O'Jays, The Four Tops, The Whispers, The Temptations, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and India.Arie.

In addition to taking in the musical performances, concertgoers will have a chance to participate in a massive line dance that organizers hope will set a new Guinness World Record.

Detroit Fox News anchor Fanchon Stinger, "Judge Mathis" television-show namesake Judge Greg Mathis, and Cincinnati-based radio-talk-show host Lincoln Ware will host the festival.

Organizers expect the event to attract more than 30,000 people each night from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
