Briefly: Erykah Badu, Slayer, Hatebreed, Ozzy Osbourne, Edgefest

Erykah Badu is set to release her third studio album, "Worldwide Underground," on Sept. 16, according to Motown Records.

The album contains new songs that Badu has been performing on tour dates over the past year. Among the tracks are collaborations with Lenny Kravitz (on "Back in the Day") and with Queen Latifah, Angie Stone and Bahmadia (on a re-working of all-female rap trio Sequence's "Funk You Up").

The fall edition of the Jagermeister Music Tour will feature Slayer and Hatebreed . The tour is scheduled to get underway on Oct. 9, but the full itinerary wasn't available at press time.

Bobby Thomson, longtime tour manager for Ozzy Osbourne , was found dead in a Birmingham, MI, hotel room on Thursday (7/24). He was 50.

Thomson was in the Detroit area in preparation for Friday's Ozzfest stop. He had been battling throat cancer for the last 18 months, and died in his sleep, according to Ozzfest's publicist.

"We are devastated by the loss of our dear friend Bobby," Osbourne said in a statement. "He has been a part of our family for 23 years and loved very much. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Our sincerest sympathies go out to the Thomson family

The Tragically Hip , Our Lady Peace, Stereophonics and Sloan are on the bill for Canada's Edgefest 2003, which is set for Sept. 6 at Molson Park in Barrie, Ontario.
