Evanescence kicks off Nintendo Fusion tour
The Nintendo Fusion Tour gets underway in California on Monday (8/4) with Goth-rock sensation Evanescence at the helm.
Joining Evanescence on the run through the month of August are Cold , Revis and Cauterize. Finger Eleven steps in for Cauterize during the outing's newly added September dates.
In addition to heading up the Nintendo Fusion Tour, Evanescence's summer tour plans include an Aug. 30 performance at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre as part of the Coors Light Mountain Jam, which also features Korn, P.O.D., 50 Cent and others; and an Aug. 31 set at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival.
The Nintendo Fusion Tour is billed as "a groundbreaking fusion of music, video gaming and culture," according to organizers. Each stop "will feature a unique gaming experience with a host of Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance games, ranging from first-person adventures to retro favorites."
Arkansas-based quartet Evanescence released its inaugural effort, "Fallen," in early March. The set, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart, peaked at No. 3, and was recently certified double platinum for shipping two million copies in the U.S.
"Fallen" got an early boost from the hit single "Bring Me to Life," which features guest vocals from 12 Stones singer Paul McCoy. The song's companion music video is among this year's MTV Video Music Awards nominees for the Best Rock Video and Best New Artist in a Video.
Cold's third album, "Year of the Spider," hit stores in late April. The set, which is the follow-up to 2000's "13 Ways to Bleed Onstage," features the single "Stupid Girl."
Finger Eleven released its self-titled third album in June, while Revis offered up its debut effort, "Places for Breathing," in May. Cauterize's debut set, "So Far from Real," surfaces on Aug. 19.
