White Stripes to make up summer dates with November tour
update: The White Stripes ' new itinerary makes up most of the shows postponed by singer Jack White's finger injury, but some ticketholders will have to swap their tickets and travel to different venues.
White broke the index finger of his fretting hand in a car accident just days before the band's summer tour was to begin in support of their latest album, "Elephant."
In a message on the band's official site, White apologized for the situation and explained that complications added to the tour's delay.
"The break did not heal properly, and surgery had to be performed. Three screws were placed in my finger to set the bones and insure complete recovery," White wrote.
A video of White's finger surgery was posted on the site this week.
A news update on the band's site notes that shows in Norfolk, VA and Nashville, TN couldn't be re-scheduled and will end up being canceled.
The band's shows in Boston, Philadelphia and Cleveland could not be rescheduled at the same venues, so those shows have been moved to different locations. Tickets for the July 20 show at Boston's Fleet Boston Pavilion will be honored at the Nov 21 show at the Tsongas Arena.
But ticketholders for the July 25 Penn's Landing show in Philadelphia and the Aug. 4 show at Cleveland's Tower City Amphitheatre will have to obtain a refund for their tickets and repurchase new tickets. The Philadelphia-area date is now Nov. 24 at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ, and the Cleveland date is now Nov. 30 at the Agora Theatre.
