String Cheese Incident rounds out fall itinerary

The String Cheese Incident will park the tour bus in Las Vegas for Halloween as part of a fall tour schedule kicks off Sept. 5 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The Halloween stop will be a two-day affair at the Cox Pavilion on the University of Nevada campus. The theme for this year's Halloween shows hasn't been revealed.

In 2002, the band performed a Halloween show at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, reportedly spoofing the Academy Awards with a production referred to as "The Academummy Awards."

The band reportedly spent part of the evening's set in costume as dead rock stars and performed a set of cover songs that gave each dead rock-star character the spotlight.

The tour route pairs the band with indie darlings The Flaming Lips in Portsmouth and Fairfax, VA. The tour begins at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver with a multi-act bill featuring DJ Logic and Medeski, Martin & Wood.

The String Cheese Incident's sixth album, "Untying the Knot," was released earlier this year on the band's own label. In addition to label operations, the band also operates its own travel and talent booking agencies and ticket company, SCI Ticketing.

A lawsuit over the amount of tickets allocated between the band's ticket company and Ticketmaster for String Cheese Incident shows was filed in federal court in Denver this week. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's corporate parent.)
