KMFDM returns with new album and tour
Veteran industrial outfit KMFDM is ready to do battle in support of its forthcoming album, "WWIII."
The group will unveil the new set during a Sept. 21 listening party at the Fenix in Seattle. The free event, which runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., is open to all ages, and will feature "freebies & giveaways." The band will be on hand to sign autographs, according to its website.
A subsequent U.S. club tour kicks off in mid-October, and is currently scheduled to wrap up back at the Fenix on Nov. 25.
Group founder Sascha Konietzko--a.k.a. Sascha K.--described the new album as "the loudest, angriest KMFDM ever," in a message posted at the band's website.
"WWIII" marks KMFDM's first set for Sanctuary Records. The group split with previous label Metropolis Records "because they were in financial difficulties and therefore couldn't pick up their next option on another KMFDM album," according to Konietzko.
Despite its alleged financial woes, Metropolis released in June a new KMFDM DVD titled "Sturm&Drang 2002," which was filmed during four stops on the band's tour of the same name.
Founded in France in 1984, KMFDM has featured various lineup changes over the years. The current roster features Konietzko (vocals, keyboards/synths, drums), Raymond Watts (vocals, guitar), Lucia Cifarelli (vocals), Bill Rieflin (bass), Joolz Hodgson (guitar), Steve White (guitar) and Andy Selway (drums).
In 1999, KMFDM issued an album titled "Adios," which it said at the time would be its final release. The group reunited for 2002's "Attak."
