Tim McGraw's 2003 Swampstock benefit to feature Faith Hill, more
Country favorite Tim McGraw has unveiled plans for the 9th annual Swampstock celebrity concert, softball challenge and online auction, which takes place in his hometown of Rayville, LA, on Sept. 14.
Among the artists who will participate in this year's event are McGraw and wife Faith Hill , and country artists Buddy Jewell and the Warren Brothers. Additional participants will be announced.
Proceeds from the all-star event, which takes place at the Tim McGraw Sports Complex, will benefit Rayville's Dixie League Baseball, the Steve Colvin Memorial Scholarship Fund and "and other deserving youth causes in the immediate area," according to a press release.
The Swampstock 2003 Auction is now underway at McGraw's official website, and includes items from Lawrence Taylor, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts and many other music and sports stars. The auction traditionally ends with the sale of signed McGraw and Hill softball jerseys from the game.
McGraw launched Swampstock in 1994 as a way to give back to his hometown community. The son of former Major League relief pitcher Tug McGraw, the country singer played baseball as a child, and built Rayville's Tim McGraw Sports Complex with money raised by past Swampstock events.
Swampstock typically attracts about 11,000 people to Rayville, which has a population of just 4,000.
