Danish duo The Raveonettes [ tickets ] will release their first full-length album on Sept. 2, and have lined up a fall club tour to back the set.

The outing gets underway on Sept. 5 in Philadelphia, and runs for more than a month. On Sept. 10, the group performs on the "Late Show with David Letterman."

The album, "Chain Gang of Love," comes on the heels of the group's 2002 debut EP, "Whip It On," which was named best rock album at March's Danish Music Awards. Rolling Stone and Q magazines have also dubbed The Raveonettes a band to watch in contemporary music.

Raveonettes Sharin Foo and Sune Rose Wagnerip wrote and recorded "Whip It On" according to a set of rules--for instance, all the songs were recorded in the key of Bb minor; no more than three chords were allowed per song; and each song was under three minutes.

The group and co-producer Richard Gottehrer--who penned the hits "My Boyfriend's Back" and "I Want Candy," and also produced sets for Blondie, the Go-Go's and many others-- threw out that rule book on "Chain Gang of Love," according to a press release.

Band member and co-producer Wagnerip, in a statement, calls the new album "a tribute to a lot of the great music" that came before him: "the primal single beat of The Cramps, the noisiness and dark feeling of the 80s, The Jesus & Mary Chain, the girl groups of the 60s, the drone thing of Suicide, Buddy Holly and the simplicity of the 50s." Foo describes the vocals as "very Everly Brothers."
