Top female singer-songwriters join for acoustic tour
Mary Chapin Carpenter , Shawn Colvin , Patty Griffin and Dar Williams will visit more than 25 cities during a fall acoustic tour that finds all four artists sharing the stage.
All four singer-songwriters will play together for the duration of each show, trading songs throughout the evening, according to a press release.
Mary Chapin Carpenter has recorded seven studio albums, which have sold more than 12 million copies to date, according to her publicist. She has earned five GRAMMY awards and a pair of CMA and ACM awards for top female vocalist. She is currently at work on a new album that is due next year.
Colvin has earned three GRAMMYs over the course of her career, including the Record and Song of the Year awards for "Sunny Came Home" in 1995. Her latest album is 2001's "Whole New You."
Patty Griffin's latest release is 2001's GRAMMY-nominated "1000 Kisses." Among the acts that have recorded her songs over the years are Bette Midler, the Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride and Emmylou Harris.
Folk artist Dar Williams has issued five albums since she broke onto the scene with 1995's "The Honesty Room." Her 2003 album "The Beauty of Rain" features guest performers Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, John Popper, Stefan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band).
