Slayer, Hatebreed lead thrash-metal tour through U.S. clubs
Slayer heads out this fall at the helm of the Jagermeister Fall Music Tour, which also features fellow metal acts Hatebreed and Arch Enemy .
The run kicks off on Oct. 8 in Saint Paul, MN, and wraps up on Nov. 29 in Los Angeles. In addition to Slayer, Hatebreed and Arch Enemy, each show will feature a local opening act sponsored by the Jagermeister Band Program.
"Slayer has never done a sponsored tour," Slayer guitarist Kerry King said in a statement, "mainly because we never thought anyone was worthy enough to have their name along side ours."
Concertgoers will have a shot at raffle prizes and giveaways, including the "2003 Jagermeister Compilation" CD, which features live and unreleased tracks from Slayer, (hed) Planet Earth, Drowning Pool, Down, Otep, Systematic, Breaking Benjamin and others; Jagermeister shirts and hats; customized Jagermeister guitars from Schecter Guitars, customized Jagermeister amplifiers from Peavey Electronics, and Jagermeister drums by Tama Drums, according to a press release.
Slayer's road trip supports its recently released live DVD, "War at the Warfield," and also helps launch a commemorative box set that marks the group's 20th anniversary. Due out on Nov. 18, the set will include previously released studio cuts, as well as demos, live tracks and other rarities culled from throughout the Southern California group's career.
Connecticut-based Hatebreed is backing its 2002 major-label debut, "Perseverance," while Sweden's Arch Enemy is supporting its forthcoming set, "Anthems of Rebellion," which surfaces on Aug. 26.
