" The Neptunes Present ... Clones," the debut compilation album from super-producers Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, outsold the competition during its first week in stores, moving more than 249,262 copies, according to Arista Records.
Alan Jackson's "Greatest Hits No. 2" falls to No. 2 on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, and Bow Wow's "Unleashed" enters at No. 3, according to industry sources.
Hoobastank guitarist Dan Estrin was injured in a motorbike accident in Myrtle Beach, SC, and the group has canceled all dates through Sept. 2.
"We were riding these little mini-motorbikes around the parking lot, and Dan drove into a dark roped-off area by the buses," vocalist Doug Robb said in a statement. "The rope caught him in the chest and he fell and hit his head pretty hard on the ground."
Estrin suffered a small fracture in his skull, which caused a blood clot that was pushing against his brain near his left temple, according to the band's publicist. Estrin underwent a "simple surgical procedure" to remove the clot, and is expected to fully recuperate in a few days.
The band plans to resume the tour on Sept. 4 in Camp Lejeune, NC.
A Georgia judge on Wednesday (8/27) sentenced Bobby Brown to another nine days in jail and 60 days of house arrest for probation violations, according to published reports.
Brown was arrested on Friday (8/22) at a suburban-Atlanta restaurant while dining with his wife, Whitney Houston. He allegedly failed to show up for community service, drug treatment and a random drug test, which he was required to complete under the probation terms for a previous drunk-driving arrest.
Billboard.com reports that The Strokes will release their sophomore album, "Room on Fire," on Oct. 21. The first single from the 11-track album is titled "12:51."
Gordon Raphael, who produced the band's critically acclaimed debut, "Is This It," was again behind the board.
