Alkaline Trio supports 'Good Mourning' with North American shows
Alkaline Trio , which kicks off a European tour on Wednesday (9/3), returns to the North American tour circuit this fall for a round of dates that will also feature Reggie & the Full Effect, Fata and No Motiv.
The group's run kicks off in late October, and is scheduled to touch down at clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada until early December. Tickets for all of the shows are on sale now, according to Alkaline Trio's website.
The fall outing is part of Alkaline Trio's continued support for its May release, "Good Mourning," which debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The set includes the group's latest single, "We've Had Enough," which recently surfaced on MTV. The track is available as a free MP3 download from Vagrant Records' website.
According to singer-guitarist Matt Skiba, Alkaline Trio's brand of punk-pop is more sinister than that of other bands in the genre.
"We offer kids a little darker slice of punk rock," he said in a statement. "Hopefully it separates us from bands that sing about going to the mall and chewing bubblegum."
Skiba points to the track "All On Black"--which the band's record-company biography describes as "a blasphemous stab at redemption"--as a particularly dark number that he hopes will push peoples' buttons.
"If it offends people who are afraid to question their own faith, then it's a good thing," he said. "We were on the list of records that a church wanted a certain record store to pull off the shelves. I was pretty happy about that. I don't actually believe that there is a Satan or a hell or all that kind of stuff, but the imagery more than anything is exciting and challenging. But if it's gonna piss somebody off for me to say I'm a Satanist, I'd be happy about that."
"Good Mourning" is the follow-up to Alkaline Trio's 2001 release, "From Here to Infirmary."
