Briefly: Dixie Chicks, Eagles, Sony, Simon & Garfunkel, D.O. Cannon

Dixie Chicks and The Eagles will play an Oct. 12 show at MCI Center in Washington, DC, to benefit The Recording Artists' Coalition.

According to a press release, each group will play a headlining-length set. The public on-sale for the concert begins on Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. ET; advance sales will be available through the Eagles Fan Club website and the Dixie Chicks' online artist club; details are posted at the respective sites.

The RAC "represents the economic and creative interests of featured recording artists whose interests are not always directly represented by other organizations or the recording industry," according to a statement.

New York Newsday reports that D.O. Cannon (Gerard Fields), a rapper who was signed to Murder Inc. Records, was shot to death on Thursday (9/4) night in New York City. The 26-year old act appeared on the 2002 album "Irv Gotti Presents ... The Remixes."
