Phish bassist Mike Gordon plots first solo tour
Phish bassist Mike Gordon embarks in October on his first solo tour, a nine-date trek that touches down in eight cities.
Gordon is touring behind his debut solo album, "Inside In," which hit stores last month. The outing gets underway on Oct. 5 in San Francisco, and wraps up on Oct. 16 in New York City. Two shows are planned at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO.
Joining Gordon on the trek are longtime Phish collaborators James Harvey on keyboards and Gordon Stone on pedal steel and banjo. Also along for the ride are trombonist Josh Roseman (Dave Holland, Charlie Hunter), guitarist Scott Murawski (Max Creek), tap dancer/vocalist Jeannie Hill, flutist/vocalist Julee Avallone and drummer Doug Belote (Anders Osborne, Tony Furtado).
According to a press release, "the band will perform songs from 'Inside In' as well as other material from within and without."
"Inside In" is the compliment to "Outside Out," Gordon's debut feature film, which was released in 2000. The album--written and performed by Gordon with guests including Jon Fishman (Phish), Bela Fleck and Col. Bruce Hampton--was recorded at Gordon's home studio.
Guitarist Kaki King supports on all dates.
