Switchfoot extends fall outing with more tour dates
San Diego-based rockers Switchfoot have tacked more dates onto their itinerary to support this year's "The Beautiful Letdown."
The group, which has been on the road almost non-stop since releasing "The Beautiful Letdown" in February, plans to continue performing for North American crowds until at least late October.
The bulk of the group's schedule consists of headlining club shows, but also includes an Oct. 11 performance at Buzzfest in Texas (with Fuel, Staind, Alien Ant Farm, Eve 6 and others); and an Oct. 12 set at the 106.3 Lickfest in Arkansas (with Eve 6, show headliner Staind and others).
"The Beautiful Letdown," which sold more than 14,000 copies during its first week out, debuted at No. 85 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and currently sits at No. 156. It is also the No. 7 entry on Billboard's latest Top Christian Albums chart.
Frontman Jonathan Foreman talked about the roots of "The Beautiful Letdown" in the band's record-company bio sheet.
"'The Beautiful Letdown' is about real life: the good, the bad, and the ugly," he wrote. "It's an honest attempt to reflect on the great and terrible aspects of being human, the tension of existence. A lot of people run away from this tension because the problems in our world are too hard to face. But the tension of being human is where we live and think and breathe. In fact, the very lowest moments in our lives are when we stand toe to toe with the truth about ourselves and our world."
Foreman and his brother, bassist Tim Foreman, formed Switchfoot in the mid-'90s. The group also includes drummer Chad Butler and guitarist-keyboardist Jerome Fontamillas.
