U.S. tour backs Kenny Loggins' first new album in six years
Kenny Loggins , best known for his arsenal of '80s-era soundtrack hits, takes to the road this fall and winter to support his recently released album "It's About Time."
The singer-songwriter has lined up a modest series of dates that are scattered through October and November, and plans to wrap up 2003 with a New Year's Eve performance in Honolulu. Members of Loggins' official fan club--which charges a $35 annual membership fee--have a chance to secure preferred seats before tickets go on sale to the general public, according to Loggins' website.
Released in August, "It's About Time" is Loggins' ninth album of all-new material, and his first in more than six years. Guests featured on the set include Michael McDonald, Richard Marx, Clint Black and Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips.
Streaming samples of all 10 of the album's tracks are posted at Loggins' website.
"It's About Time" follows last November's "The Essential Kenny Loggins," a two-disc set featuring 35 tracks that span Loggins' recording career from 1972 through 2000. The collection begins with seven tracks by Loggins and former recording partner Jim Messina (Poco); the two recorded three albums together as Loggins & Messina in the early '70s.
The album's remaining tracks include a bevy of '80s-era soundtrack hits, including "I'm Alright," from 1980's "Caddyshack"; "Footloose" from the 1984 movie of the same name; and "Danger Zone" from 1986's "Top Gun," among others.
