Phish sets plans for post-Thanksgiving and year-end shows
Vermont jam-band Phish will spend the days after Thanksgiving playing concerts in the northeastern U.S., and then regroups for a series of year-end shows in Florida.
The band's post-Thanksgiving run opens on Nov. 28 in Uniondale, NY, and will also visit Philadelphia, Albany, NY, and Boston.
The Dec. 2 appearance at Boston's FleetCenter will mark the 20th anniversary of Phish's first performance, which took place at an ROTC dance on the campus of the University of Vermont.
According to the band's official website, "While the exact date has been the subject of some dispute over the years, carbon dating, diligent research and a little common sense confirmed that Dec. 2, 1983 was indeed the date of the band's first show."
Phish ends the year with a four-night stand at Miami's American Airlines Arena, marking the group's first Florida performances since its three-day 1999 festival at Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation drew 80,000 fans.
In December, Phish ended a two-year hiatus from live performances with a sold-out New Year's Eve show at New York's Madison Square Garden, and followed with a U.S. arena tour in February. The group was on the amphitheater circuit this summer, and played a two-day concert/camping event at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, ME, in early August.
