Elton John schedules a handful of fall U.S. tour dates
Elton John --who took a swing through the states earlier this year during his co-headlining run with fellow piano man Billy Joel--again gets in front of U.S. crowds in October and November.
John's U.S. plans begin on Oct. 4 in Las Vegas, where he performs as part of the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children concert, which benefits underprivileged, abused and at-risk children in Las Vegas. The event will also feature Joel, Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Dennis Miller and Robin Williams.
John will also perform at an Oct. 16 benefit concert in honor of the late Carl Wilson, founding member and lead guitarist of The Beach Boys. The event, dubbed "An Evening with Brian Wilson and Friends," will help raise funds for "cancer research and aid musicians in need of support," according to John's website. Other artists appearing at the event include Brian Wilson, Sugar Ray and In Bloom.
A handful of November headlining shows follow for John and his band. Only four dates were confirmed at press time; no word yet on whether more shows will be added.
John's latest album is 2001's "Songs from the West Coast," but it's one of his '70s-era hits that's currently getting play on radio and in the clubs; Southern Fried Records recently issued a CD-single of the cut "Are You Ready for Love?," a funk track that John recorded in 1977 with Philadelphia producer Thom Bell. The new release features the original version, as well as a remix by renowned U.K. house producer Ashley Beedle.
