Briefly: Justin Timberlake, OutKast, The Grateful Dead, P.O.D., C-Murder
Justin Timberlake will play a club show at Detroit's State Theatre on Oct. 17. Tickets go on sale on Saturday (10/4) at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, according to promoters.
The new OutKast two-CD set "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" sold nearly 510,000 copies during its first week in stores, and will debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, according to industry sources.
Clocking in at No. 2 is Dave Matthews' solo debut, "Some Devil," which sold 469,000 copies, while Limp Bizkit's "Results May Vary" sold about 325,000 copies to chart at No. 3.
R. Kelly's "The R. in R&B Collection, Vol. 1" enters at No. 4, and "Cheers," the debut from rapper Obie Trice, enters at No. 5.
The 1977 film "The Grateful Dead Movie" will be resurrected on Oct. 7 for special presentations at select Regal Entertainment Group theaters in 19 U.S. markets.
The movie was shot during the Dead's October 1974 concerts at San Francisco's Winterland Arena, just before the band went on a two-year sabbatical, according to a press release.
More information, including ticket information, is available at the Regal Cinemas website.
The first million copies of P.O.D.'s forthcoming album, "Payable on Death," will be packaged with a second disc containing a Playstation 2 video game.
The game, "Amplitude," allows fans to remix and scratch on top of a new P.O.D. track titled "Space," which doesn't appear on the album.
Rapper C-Murder was convicted on Tuesday (10/1) of second-degree murder in the 2002 shooting death of a 16-year-old boy. The rapper, whose real name Corey Miller, received an automatic life sentence.
His family--which includes his brother, rap mogul Master P--plans to appeal.
