Itinerary shapes up for Shania Twain, early shows set venue records

With her first North American tour in five years now underway, pop-country star Shania Twain has filled in some blanks on her fall itinerary.

Among the cities added since her tour was announced last month are Uncasville, CT; Washington, DC; Madison, WI; and Milwaukee, WI. The tour's remaining itinerary is below.

Twain's tour has already set some early ticket-gross records in her native Canada, according to Mercury Records. Her opening date at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario drew more than 18,500 fans and grossed $1.3 million--the most ever for a single show at the venue. She followed that with an appearance at Ottawa, Ontario's Corel Center, which took in a venue-record gross of $1.2 million.

Fellow Canucks Emerson Drive were the opening act for Twain's early Canadian dates, and will return in December to open the tour's remaining Canadian dates, according to DreamWorks Records.

According to early reviews, Twain's set list includes a mix of her older and more-recent hits, including "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!," "Forever and For Always," "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and "Still the One." The stage is set up in the middle of the arena, allowing her to play to the entire audience.

Twain continues to back her 2002 release, "Up!," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart in November and has sold more than 9 million copies worldwide to date, according to Mercury. Her previous release, 1997's "Come On Over," sold more than 34 million copies worldwide, and ranks as one of the top-selling female solo albums in history.

"Come On Over" led to much debate over whether Twain was too pop to be country, but Twain was unabashedly both on "Up!" The two-CD set includes country (the green disc) and pop (the red one) mixes of each of its 19 tracks, all of which were produced by her husband, Robert John 'Mutt' Lange.
