Briefly: The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Courtney Love, Jerry Garcia, Green Day
Best Buy stores have inked an exclusive deal to carry The Rolling Stones ' new DVD collection, titled "Four Flicks," according to a press release.
The four-DVD set, due on Nov. 11 and priced at $29.99, features more than five hours of music and over 50 songs.
Three discs house concerts filmed during the Stones' 2002-2003 "Licks" world tour: a theater show at Paris' Olympia Theatre, an arena gig at New York's Madison Square Garden, and a stadium show at London's Twickenham Stadium.' The fourth disc contains the tour documentary "Tip of the Tongue," along with other features.
Michael Jackson is set to release a best-of album titled "Number Ones"--which compiles 15 of his top hits from over the last 30 years--on Nov. 18. The album also includes one new song, the R. Kelly-penned "One More Chance."
A DVD of the same title that compiles 15 of Jackson's videos is also expected to hit stores in November.
Courtney Love was hospitalized for a possible drug overdose on Thursday (10/2), the Los Angeles Times reported. Her hospitalization reportedly came less than an hour after she was arrested for allegedly smashing four windows at a friend's Los Angeles home.
Clos du Bois Winery in California's Sonoma County has announced the launch of its J Garcia wines, which feature artwork by The Grateful Dead's late singer-guitarist Jerry Garcia . The initial release includes a 2002 Chardonnay, a 2000 Merlot and a 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon. A Zinfandel is scheduled for a later release.
Though the group is mum, it appears that Green Day has released a new album under a different name. The album, "Money Money 2020," by a band dubbed The Network, was released on Tuesday (9/30) by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's Adeline Records label. A listen reveals that the lead singer sounds remarkably similar to Armstrong.
Members of The Network "are extremely mysterious and never show their faces to humans or cameras," according to the Adeline Records website.
