Justin Timberlake readies for overseas tour with small-venue dates
Justin Timberlake --a pop star who's accustomed to playing arenas--warms up for his upcoming 19-city European tour by performing five U.S. theater shows.
The brief outing is scheduled to visit intimate venues in Washington, DC; Norfolk, VA; Cleveland; Detroit; and Memphis. Tickets quietly hit the market on Friday (10/10), and were expected to sell out quickly. Ticketing for the Washington, DC, show is being handled by Tickets.com, and Ticketmaster is handling tickets for Norfolk, Cleveland and Detroit (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company). Tickets for the Memphis show are being sold by the venue at (800) 594-TIXX.
Timberlake's 19-city European tour kicks off in Germany in November, and runs through January. Webcasts of four shows are planned--Italy, Ireland, the U.K., and the Netherlands--but further details weren't immediately available.
The tour is sponsored by McDonald's restaurants, with which Timberlake signed a marketing deal earlier this year. He recorded a Neptunes-produced song called "I'm Lovin' It"--the slogan of McDonald's new marketing campaign--and will perform it in a medley on the tour.
According to a press release, Timberlake will make "unique appearances" in select markets during his upcoming tours, including one at Washington, DC's Street Baller Expo. He is also expected to make surprise stops to meet with employees at McDonald's restaurants, and to participate in various activities to support McDonald House Charities, World Children's Day at McDonald's on November 20, and McDonald's sports sponsorships, including the Olympic Games.
