String Cheese Incident builds up New Year's steam on West Coast

The String Cheese Incident will round out its 2003 itinerary with a run of West Coast shows in December before heading into the heartland to cap the year with a three-night New Year's stand in Chicago.

The brief run kicks off at Los Angeles' newly-branded Wiltern LG for a two-night stand, moving northward into Redwood City, CA, before two-night stands in Oregon and Washington and a single date in British Columbia. The tour then breaks for two weeks before re-grouping in Chicago for this year's New Year's Incident.

The new block of dates follows the release of the band's first studio release in two years, "Untying the Not" on its own SCI Fidelity label.
In August, the band's ticketing company, SCI Ticketing, filed suit against Ticketmaster in a dispute over the size of ticketing allotments made available by Ticketmaster venues to SCI Ticketing for pre-sale through the SCI's website. The lawsuit is ongoing. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)

This week, the band heads to Las Vegas for its annual Halloween show. 2002's Halloween Incident, held in Los Angeles, featured the band's members dressed as dead rock stars, performing the music of those bands.

The band launched an online venture last year, SCI on the Road, to sell live copies of their shows and compile set lists, photo galleries and reviews. Through the site, fans are able to purchase CDs of individual shows or discounted packages of CDs representing complete tours.
