Alt-metal trio Chevelle [ tickets ] hits the road on Saturday night (11/1) for a tour of U.S. clubs that supports the group's new live releases.

Dates for the outing stretch into mid-December. Fellow rockers S.T.U.N., who are backing their July debut, "Evolution of Energy," hold down the opening slot.

Titled "Live from the Road," Chevelle's latest release is available exclusively through the band's website. The set features tracks culled from several headlining performances, as well as some opening dates with the Foo Fighters.

Drummer Sam Loeffler offered some background information about the release in a message posted at the site.

"When we are playing live we try to sound as big and heavy as possible," he wrote. "This live record is sort of a time capsule to what we have been doing and what we have been sounding like up to this point. Things will be changing as we go into writing our next record, so this was an important thing for us to get down."

Earlier this month, Chevelle released "Live at the Norva," a DVD that captures the group's headlining performance at the Virginia venue on May 23, 2003.

The Chicago-based threesome's major-label debut, "Wonder What's Next," surfaced on Epic Records in August of 2002.
