Briefly: Justin Timberlake, Counting Crows, Scott Weiland, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash
Justin Timberlake will write a theme song for ABC Sports' NBA coverage this season, and will also star in its "Can't Get Enough" NBA promotional campaign.
The network also announced this week that Timberlake will work as a special NBA correspondent for the network.
"This provides a unique integration of sports and entertainment, and Justin's interest and enthusiasm not only in the NBA, but in all sports, should help provide our broadcasts with a new, fresh approach," ABC Sports' Michael Pearl said in a statement.
ABC's NBA coverage begins this year on Christmas Day.
Counting Crows are set to release a greatest-hits album titled "Films About Ghosts" on Nov. 25. Besides selections from the group's four studio albums, it will feature the hard-to-find track "Einstein on the Beach," a cover of The Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil" and the new original song "She Didn't Want Nobody Near."
A judge has ordered Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland to enter a live-in detox program, and to follow it up with a six-month stay in a residential drug rehabilitation center.
Weiland was arrested early Monday morning after a traffic accident, and was charged with driving under the influence and misdemeanor hit-and-run. He was on probation in connection with a May drug arrest.
Heather Mills, Paul McCartney 's second wife, gave birth to a baby girl, Beatrice Milly, on Wednesday (10/29), according to published reports. It is the couple's first child together. McCartney is 61 years old; Mills is 35.
Kid Rock and Brooks & Dunn are the latest additions to the Nov. 10 Nashville memorial concert for Johnny Cash .
They'll join previously announced performers Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, George Jones, Travis Tritt, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Rodney Crowell, Marty Stuart, Jack Clement, Steve Earle, Larry Gatlin, John Mellencamp, Dwight Yoakam and Jimmy Tittle. The show will be taped for a CMT special that airs on Nov. 15.
