Static-X recharges tour schedule with more dates

Static-X 's late-2003 tour behind its new album, "Shadow Zone," continues to grow.

The industrial-metal quartet has filled up the remainder of its November itinerary, and has stretched its run into mid-December. The outing also features Soil , Skrape and Twisted Method.

"Shadow Zone," Static-X's follow-up to 2001's "Machine," arrived in stores in early October. The special-edition CD includes a DVD that features backstage footage, questions from the fans and live performances.

The new album is the group's third full-length, and is its first with former Dope guitarist Tripp Eisen, who replaced original guitarist Koichi Fukuda shortly after "Machine" was completed.

Original drummer Ken Jay, who has since followed Fukuda out the door, was replaced on "Shadow Zone" by drummer Josh Freese. However, Freese won't be touring with the group, as he's tied up with his full-time gig, A Perfect Circle. Instead, Static-X founders Wayne Static (vocals) and Tony Campos (bass) signed on drummer Nick Oshiro as Jay's permanent replacement.

"The chemistry is actually better than it ever was," Static said in a statement. "It's weird, because Koichi came in right before we got signed, did the record, toured, and he quit. In my mind, it's like, 'Was he even in the band?' He was in the band for like two years, and Tripp has been with us for more than three years now. We are all laid back, and with Nick, we made sure that we got someone in the band that fits in, that we will like touring with, and it feels good … Really good. The old songs still sound the same, maybe even better."

Static-X's website is streaming the new album, and also features the video for the track "Only."
