Obie Trice sinks his teeth into more headlining tour dates

Detroit rapper Obie Trice has extended his road trip in support of his recently released debut album, "Cheers."

Trice, who opened the run last week, is now scheduled to continue touring the U.S. through the end of the month. His plans include a performance at this Saturday's (11/15) Cypress Hill Smoke Out festival in San Bernardino, CA, followed later that same day by a headlining performance in Albuquerque, NM.

"Cheers" surfaced on Eminem's Shady Records in late September, and features the hit single "Got Some Teeth. The album's latest single, "The Set Up," is streaming at Trice's website. The cut, which Dr. Dre produced, features a guest appearance from rapper Nate Dogg.

During a recent interview with liveDaily, Trice said that he wrote the material for "Cheers" on the fly instead of preparing it before the recording sessions.

"I write in the studio, fresh off hand," he said. "They played the beat, and whatever I was feeling [I wrote]. I run away with it like that. Pressure, I love pressure. I love it down to the wire. That's easier for me to go to the studio and make a fresh song. Some days I got out a couple hours, some days it take longer. That's how I work."

Trice got his break in the music business after handing a demo tape to Eminem. The multi-platinum rapper signed Trice to his Shady Records label shortly thereafter.
