Elton John schedules second round of Las Vegas shows
Elton John --who has signed on to perform 75 shows over three years at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas--has unveiled his second run of dates at the venue.
The new round of shows has the singer performing 10 nights from March 23 through April 4, and tickets will go on sale on Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Details are in the itinerary below.
John's first stint at The Colosseum runs Feb. 13-22.
Backing John during his performances will be his band: guitarist Davey Johnstone, keyboardist Guy Babylon, bassist Bob Birch, percussionist John Mahon and drummer Nigel Olsson.
John's production at the venue--which was designed and directed by photographer and director David LaChappelle--is titled "The Red Piano." According to a press release, "LaChappelle will blend Elton's breathtaking music with vibrant visual imagery making these Colosseum engagements a unique spectacular unlike any previous Elton John performance."
The Colosseum is the 4,100-seat room built for singer Celine Dion, who began a multi-year residence at the venue earlier this year. John's performances take place on nights that Dion's show is dark.
Before beginning his Las Vegas engagement, John will play a handful November dates in the U.S.
In other news, a new Bernie Taupin-penned song that John sings, "The Heart of Every Girl," is the end-title song for the upcoming film "Mona Lisa Smile," which is scheduled for release in December. A clip of the song is streaming at John's website.
