J Records reports that it has received more than 1.3 million pre-orders from retailers for "Soulful," the debut album from "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard . The album is set for release on Dec. 9.
Justin Guarini , the 2001 "American Idol" runner-up, reportedly has been dropped by RCA Records due to disappointing album sales.
A spring 2005 opening is planned for "All Shook Up," a musical commission by Elvis Presley 's estate that will feature many of Presley's well-known songs. The musical, set in the mid-'50s, won't be about Presley; the plot instead revolves around the arrival in a U.S. town of a magical jukebox and a stranger.
