David Bowie postpones more shows as bout with flu lingers
David Bowie , who on Friday (12/5) announced that he was postponing his planned weekend concerts due to illness, has back-burnered two more shows.
Bowie's Tuesday (12/9) show in Boston and Wednesday (12/10) show in Philadelphia are on hold after doctors "ordered him to remain in bed for a few days longer while he shakes the flu," according to a statement that Bowie's publicist issued on Monday (12/8).
Bowie had originally planned to resume his tour schedule in Boston on Tuesday after postponing his stops in Atlantic City on Saturday (12/6) and Fairfax, VA, on Sunday (12/7).
All four shows will be rescheduled, though make-up dates have not been announced. Tickets for the originally scheduled dates will be
honored on the new dates, according to organizers.
Plans now call for Bowie to return to the road beginning with his Friday (12/12) engagement in Toronto.
Bowie is touring a mix of arenas and theaters behind his new album, "Reality," which he released in September. The album track "New Killer Star" was recently nominated for a GRAMMY® in the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance category.
Next month, Virgin Records plans to issue a special-edition version of Bowie's 1993 set, "Black Tie White Noise." The three-disc set--which arrives in stores on Jan. 13--features one disc that houses the original album, one disc containing rare and previously unreleased tracks and mixes, and one DVD featuring the "Black Tie White Noise" home video previously available only in VHS format.
